Purim at the Minyan

Every year we have a Megillah reading and party together with Ner Tamid congregation. To the right is a picture from a minyan Purim celebration.

The Minyan Shabbaton -- February 21 - 22, 2008

The Egalitarian Minyan will celebrate its 29th anniversary Shabbaton on February 21-22. Our speaker will be Matthew Evans, who is a post-doctoral student at Northwestern University. He will speak on demographic trends in Israel.

And also . . .

The minyan has held a variety of weekly study sessions. Ben Sommer has led a class on the Book of Psalms in which we read the text closely in Hebrew, paying attention to improving biblical Hebrew skills, and the historical background and literary interpretation of the text. (Ben's class is on hiatus while he and his family are enjoying a sabbatical year in Israel.)

The minyan holds an annual Hanukkah party where a great time is had by all. This is a regular part of the minyan calendar, along with an open Sukkah evening, a Shavuot picnic, a Purim party, and a group break-fast after Yom Kippur.

Benefit Concert

In March 2006, Minyan member Dan Golden, together with several other musicians, performed a concert to raise money for the minyan tzedakah fund. The program included both classical and Klezmer music.
